All About Aambra Foundation

Our Story

“If you want something said, ask a man.. if you want something done, ask a woman.”

Every small step that we take to reach out to the others is a small journey towards the mammoth task of improving the canvas of human lives. We touch human life in many ways. There are social constructs and paradigms as old as human civilization is on our planet.

In this ever changing and ever evolving world there is a constant give and take and a constant flow of information and communication from each one of us inwards and outwards. There are many things around us which we have observed right from the time when we were born so much so that we stop noticing them or pondering about them.

We feel gender bias is one such area which India is committed to One of our primary objectives as an organization is to highlight issues of contemporary relevance to the modern Indian. We believe both the genders complement each other and are not in competition with each other to prove supremacy.

AAMBRA Foundation is a Government of India registered Non Profit Organization, approved under section 80G of Income Tax Act 1961. AAMBRA came into formal inception in the year 2012 although it had been actively engaged in championing women’s causes for quite some time.

The journey of Aambra Foundation has its roots in the dynamics of India’s development. Notwithstanding our status as the world’s largest democracy and focus of governmental actions on the development of a disempowered population, the vulnerability of weaker sections of the society, like women and children, to abuse, neglect, discrimination, and exploitation remains a gigantic developmental challenge for the country. India occupied 112th position in a list of 153 countries that were covered under the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Global Gender Gap Index 2020.

Vision:
A society that promotes and protects the rights of women, children and the disempowered people, that accords primacy to the principles of equality and dignity, and wherein obscurantist principles and practices are discarded

Mission:

  • Promote gender equality by bridging gender gap and empowering women in need of protection
  • Practice socially inclusive and holistic development
  • Strengthen enabling environment for development of dispossessed and disempowered people
  • Build synergy among individuals, institutions and commonersthrough debates, dialogues and congregations

Aambrotsave

Art and cultural activities are not sheer entertainment. They teach us about who we are, they contribute to the well-being of our communities and enrich the experiences of visitors to our province.

The Cultural and Youth Activities and programmes help to build communities by fostering an appreciation for the arts; by introducing youth to artistic and cultural activity and to professional artists; and by creating links between exposure to the arts and audience development.

"She Speaks is a flagship project of the Aambra Foundation."

SheSpeaks

She Speaks is a flagship project of the Aambra Foundation. It was conceptualized to give a voice to issues relating to women and celebrate their strength and success. We invite accomplished and inspiring men and women from different walks of life to share their stories of success, struggle and challenges and present case studies.

Across centuries in India, a woman has been the fulcrum of her family. However, her voice was stifled due to socio-economic, politico-religious and other factors. She Speaks endeavours to give a voice to the inspiring and aspiring women.

SheSpeaks is pleased to announce that a helpline project has been initiated with the aim of providing support services to adolescent girls and women facing mental distress. Our helpline services are also designed to cater to the specific needs of women with special needs and older women, in order to further encourage and facilitate inclusivity of women from all aspects of life to voice their concerns.

Make a donation, to support Education and Wellbeing

The Campaign

The unprecedented issues created by the pandemic are ever increasing. While some of us may be privileged enough to get by, many others still remain without a source of income, sustenance, or education.

During times when online and digital learning have taken over our traditional classroom- based learning; many students are finding it difficult to continue their education from home due to lack of access to smartphones and laptops. This is especially true in case of girl students since in case of limited access, the male child usually takes precedence in traditional families. The situation is creating enormous levels of stress, depression and anxiety, which according to media reports, have even led to suicides by students.

Henceforth, Aambra Foundation in association with Miranda House, a premier women’s institution of India, has pledged to combat the digital divide to address the current issues. A new campaign “Make a donation, to support education”, has been launched which aims to provide basic amenities such as smartphones and laptops to the underprivileged sections of our society so that together we can support and encourage the holistic wellness and growth of the students.

Let us all come together and join hands in fulfilling a student’s dream and ambition by donating our old/used smartphones/laptops or contributing financially towards the campaign. Your donations will be directly used to sponsor a student’s education.

You can also write to us at – info@shespeaks.co.in for further details on how you can contribute.

The campaign details would be available on the following websites:
