PILOT Project successful completed with DWCD

Sashakta Paramedics Training Centre – Generating Livelihoods With Delhi Govt

In the recent past, Govt. of India and Govt of Delhi have taken various policy decisions to provide impetus to the growth of services and manufacturing sectorin view of ongoing Corona pandemic. Aambra Foundation has always aspired to serve the humanity at large and wants to work steadfastly to champion the goals of gender empowerment and health literacy.

We all know India has a substantial percentage of men and women fighting age and lifestyle related diseases. There is a huge pressure on medical services and infrastructure. Further, Covid 19 has exacerbated pressure on the already stressed system and compounded the associated burdens. There is a large segment of old people in need of geriatric as well as Post-Covid Care.

We, at Aambra Foundation, are determined to fill this gap by creating a skilled resource pool of paramedics for general and geriatric care in the homes and hospitals. In the same direction, we worked on a pilot in collaboration with Samridhi SSK DWCD, Govt of NCT of Delhi.

The innovative pilot aimed to create sustainable livelihood opportunities for girls and women residing in urban slums.

The project, commissioned in July 2021, aimed to create sustainable livelihood opportunities for girls and women residing in urban slums and villages, whilst empowering them with skills of Communication, Care and Concern.

REPORT :

SASHAKTA PARAMEDICS (FREE OF COST TRAINING TO ECONOMICALLY EMPOWER THE DISENFRANCHISED WOMEN FOR LIVELIHOODS) IN COLLABORATION WITH SAMRIDDHI SSK – DWCD GOVT OF NCT OF DELHI.

In the recent past, DWCD Govt of Delhi had taken various measures to provide impetus to the empowerment of women, in view of the ongoing Corona pandemic.

As part of our vision, Aambra Foundation aspires to serve humanity and contribute to achieving the UN envisioned Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)

Aambra Foundation is determined to fill this gap by creating a skilled resource pool of paramedics for general and geriatric care in the homes and hospitals. A Delhi government-commissioned employment survey, carried out between September-November 2020, found a sharp surge in the unemployment rate of Delhi, from 11.1 per cent in January-February 2020 to 28.5 per cent in October-November, and a drastic dip in the share of women in the workforce, including a large percentage of graduates and postgraduates.

The survey had a sample size of 44,226 of which 32,052 people were aged 15 and above. The report was jointly prepared by the Delhi Directorate of Economics and Statistics and the Centre for Market Research and Social Development.

To combat the situation Aambra Foundation proposed to DWCD to link girls and women who have lost their employment and are residing in Bhatti mines to our training programme so that these girls and women can benefit and can be re-employed.

Hence, Aambra Foundation under Samriddhi component of SSK conducted a pilot with 15 girls and women from a conservative urban village which has very limited level of exposure to the outside world. Our intent is to ultimately professionally train over 200 women every year in the category and connect them with agencies for placement.

The unprecedented issues created by the pandemic are ever increasing. While some of us may be privileged enough to get by, many others still remain without a source of income, sustenance, or education.

During times when online and digital learning have taken over our traditional classroom- based learning; many students are finding it difficult to continue their education from home due to lack of access to smartphones and laptops. This is especially true in case of girl students since in case of limited access, the male child usually takes precedence in traditional families. The situation is creating enormous levels of stress, depression and anxiety, which according to media reports, have even led to suicides by students.

Henceforth, Aambra Foundation in association with Miranda House, a premier women’s institution of India, has pledged to combat the digital divide to address the current issues. A new campaign “Make a donation, to support education”, has been launched which aims to provide basic amenities such as smartphones and laptops to the underprivileged sections of our society so that together we can support and encourage the holistic wellness and growth of the students.

Let us all come together and join hands in fulfilling a student’s dream and ambition by donating our old/used smartphones/laptops or contributing financially towards the campaign. Your donations will be directly used to sponsor a student’s education.

PROBLEM STATEMENT
COVID-19 has caused unprecedented challenges all around the world and has likely changed the very foundational infrastructure of the society worldwide. While these challenges are exigent for many, it is particularly adverse for the maturing young girls who reside in care homes. Even the previous research studies from the pre-COVID era have time and again highlighted this and Covid has further exasperated the situation.

We at Aambra Foundation strongly believe that group activities would be a great opportunity for the girls to learn new skills which will aid their social adjustment and social rehabilitation in future. It will also enhance their self-esteem, quality of life and belief in themselves and others.
